Merry-Ann was a very common girl, with very common dreams, and a very common life. She never even dreamed about going outside the realms of common. But its a funny thing how uncommon things like to push their into the common world. Marry-Ann was no exception of this rule.
One day at school Marry-Ann was waiting for her college professor when a very uncommon girl walked up to her. "Hello," the girl said in a friendly voice. "My name's Alexia, what's yours?"
Marry-Ann looked this girl up and down. The girl had wild flaming red hair, golden eyes, and perfect shiny teeth. Marry-Ann look nothing like this. She had plain straight brown hair, brown eyes, and her teeth were slightly crooked.
"My name is Marry-Ann," she finally said. "It's a pleasure to meet you."
Alexia smiled her perfect smile. "Really, the pleasure's all mine." Then in the same breath she asked, "Do you want to be my friend?"
Marry-Ann wasn't expecting this. "Um ... why?"
Alexia looked confused. "What?"
"Why do you want to be my friend?"
Understanding the question Alexia said, "Because you look fun." Marry-Ann snickered. No one had ever told her that she looked fun. In fact no one had ever asked her to be their friend either.
"Alright," Marry-Ann said smiling her non shiny smile. "I'll be your friend."
Alexia looked like she could jump in the air for joy. Her golden eyes seemed to glow and sparkle. her smile was so big that Marry-Ann was afraid that her face might split in half. "Oh Excellent!" she announced taking the seat next to hers, which had been vacant the entire semester.
Alexia looked Marry-Ann over as soon as she sat down. "You know," she said thoughtfully. Marry-Ann was sure that she was about to tell her that there had been some mistake and she really didn't want to be her friend. Instead she said, "You don't really look like a Marry-Ann. Is it okay if I call you Annie?"
Marry-Ann shrugged. "Sure," she said with a shake of her head. As far as she could see this girl was insane. "Call me whatever you like."
Once again Alexia smiled like there was no tomorrow. "Excellent!" She said again.
